Finding Ethical Registered Breeders

Please do your due diligence when looking for a breeder.

Purchasing a pedigree cat from an ethical registered breeder will help to ensure you’re getting a happy, healthy and well-socialised kitten.

You should confirm that any breeder's registration and prefixes are legitimate because many claim to be registered but aren't.

Watch out for fake or scam sites that steal legitimate breeders' credentials and try to sell kittens that don't exist.

Double check their location, email, phone number and source number match what’s on their website, anything not matching is a red flag!

Are their kittens housed in glass cabinets (red flag) or wire cages or are they allowed to share the house with the family?

Look for reviews from past buyers, and check their social media pages for happy past clients ❤️

Make sure you are allowed to collect your kitten in person,  if the breeder won't let you pick up your kitten in person, HUGE RED FLAG!

Expect to to pay a deposit to be added to our waitlist or to reserve a kitten, that’s perfectly normal these days.

Expect to wait for the right kitten, ethical breeders are not kitten supermarkets; breeding takes time, planning, commitment and patience.

Victorian breeders should have fully vetted their kittens before they leave and should include no less than 2 vaccinations, microchipping, worming and desexing! They should include a 3-year Genetic Health Guarantee and supply genuine 4-generation pedigree from their governing body.

All breeder cats must be DNA negative for HCM & PKD and kittens should be negative by parentage.

Breeders should not let any kitten to leave before 11-12 weeks old and they should be 100% healthy unless any issues are disclosed prior.
