What We Feed Our Kittens

Nutrition plays an important role in healthy growth and development, which is why we take great care in choosing what we feed our cats and kittens. Our cats are fed a premium-quality diet consisting of Royal Canin and Black Hawk kibble, along with fresh pet-grade raw beef and carefully selected supplements. We also offer human-grade freeze-dried treats as part of their enrichment and rewards.

We do not feed low-quality supermarket foods. Our kittens are raised on a consistent, nutritious diet from the very beginning, and we strongly encourage their new families to continue feeding the same diet once they come home.

By the time your kitten is ready to leave us, they are familiar with our feeding routine and schedule. Maintaining this routine as closely as possible during the transition to their new home can help your kitten settle in more easily and comfortably.

 

Preparing for Your Kitten's Arrival

Before bringing your kitten home, we recommend arranging a meat delivery or purchasing fresh beef from your local butcher or supermarket.  We suggest freezing the beef in daily portions, with approximately 2–4 serves per portion, so you have an appropriate supply of their familiar raw food ready from their very first day at home.

Health Testing & Veterinary Care

The health of our breeding cats and kittens is extremely important to us.

Our breeding cats are DNA tested and clear of HCM and PKD, and our kittens are clear by parentage.

Before leaving Luxafel Ragdolls, every kitten receives comprehensive preparation for their new home, including:

• At least two veterinary health checks

• Microchipping

• Two vaccinations

• Desexing

• Regular worming

• Ongoing health monitoring throughout their time with us

We take great pride in ensuring every kitten leaves us healthy, well cared for and ready to begin their next chapter with their new family.

 

Your Luxafel Kitten Pack

Every Luxafel kitten collected in person goes home with a generous kitten pack containing some of the essentials they will need when settling into their new home.

Your kitten pack includes:

• Trupanion 30-day insurance

• Premium kitten food packs by redemption

• Frozen raw beef 

• 2 bags of Michu Tofu litter by redemption

• Toys and more 

Interstate families: Your kitten will receive an RC food voucher and insurance information digitally, along with their vaccination and desexing paperwork. ​

 

Cat Litter

Our kittens are litter trained using a quality Tofu clumping litter.

We personally use Michu Clumping Tofu Litter and Michu litter boxes and, after trying a variety of different options, Michu remains our favourite. There are several excellent clumping tofu litter brands available, but we recommend continuing with a similar litter when your kitten first arrives home to help maintain familiarity and make the transition as easy as possible.

 

Our Waitlist & Payments

The deposit to reserve a kitten or secure a place on our paid waitlist is $650.

If you join our waitlist, your waitlist deposit will automatically become your kitten deposit once you have selected your kitten.

Please note that a kitten is not considered reserved until the required deposit has been received.

Interstate Transport

We are very happy to welcome interstate families to Luxafel Ragdolls.

When your kitten needs to travel interstate, we use experienced and reputable pet transport providers that we trust to ensure your kitten travels as safely and comfortably as possible. We can also arrange premium door-to-door transport at an additional cost for families who prefer a more convenient service.

Transport costs quoted include:​

• Flight and booking fees

• Collection from Pakenham & delivery and lodgement at the airport

• A new PP20 travel crate, which is yours to keep 

Please note: All flight and transport costs are additional to the kitten purchase price.

Closed Cattery Policy

The health, safety and wellbeing of our kittens is always our highest priority.

As our cattery is also our family home, Luxafel Ragdolls is a closed cattery. This helps protect our young, developing and not-yet-fully-vaccinated kittens while allowing us to maintain a safe, calm and clean environment for all of our cats.

We completely understand how exciting it is to welcome a new kitten into your family. While we don't offer home visits before collection, reserved families are still able to be part of their kitten's journey. We provide regular photos, videos and updates so you can watch your little one grow and develop until the very special day they come home.

Pricing

Breeding healthy, well-socialised kittens is a full-time commitment, requiring significant time and investment throughout the year.

From quality nutrition and veterinary care to health testing, enrichment, and the everyday costs of raising kittens in our home, every part of our breeding program is carefully considered.
